Protected areas are explicitly specified geographic areas, limited, managed and allocated by the local governments and their laws so as to form a long lasting natural resources conservation through relevant natural and cultural services.(IUCN Definition 2008)
Why we need the protected areas?
A conserved region is a pivot of diverseness protection, specifically in local stage by the local governments. Conserved regions are the main attempt for protecting ecosystem. They provide us with numerous services including but not limited to food supplies, healthy drinking water, medication and more. Furthermore, they keep us safe from effects of the earth’s catastrophes. Ecosystem scientists have calculated that the world conserved regions’ network is capable of managing 15% of the carbon on the earth.
Most important problems associated with protected areas
Having countless problems with the contemporary conserved regions in the globe means that earth’s diverseness and its habitats and different animal kinds are in serious danger. These threats are as follows:

Poor representation of habitats
Lack of connectivity between protected areas
Lack of funds
Poor management
Human activities
A Canadian program
Canada has planned to protect 25% of the country’s territory and water resources by 2025, and has planned to continue this approach up to 30% until 2030. This is necessary to achieve these goals to eventually save the minimum of 50% of the country that is really essential to protect the Canada’s unique landscape and natural wildlife habitat.

Conserved regions are the basis of ecosystem protection. Canada’s territorial, national, parks, provincial and Aboriginal conserved regions provide us with numerous advantages. These advantages including clean drinking water, medication, healthy air, food resources and diverseness protection, relieving the droughts and floods effects while providing exceptional outdoor activity opportunities.
